Overview
Greta is a solid-wood chair for Metoda born from the contrast of full and empty — a rhythmical dialogue between line and surface that gives the piece its quiet visual dynamism. From a circular seat, two lines branch outward to form a backrest that surprises with its comfort, despite its spare, almost drawn appearance.

Brief
Metoda was established to substantiate the transformation of Spin Valis — a Požega-based manufacturer with seventy years of experience in oak and beech furniture — into a contemporary design brand grounded in sustainability. Its model depends on the diversity of designers’ voices brought into the project, each contributing a distinct formal language to a coherent, craft-anchored identity.

Approach
The design departs from a single formal tension: the interplay of solidity and openness, mass and line. The circular seat reads as full — grounded, complete — while the backrest dissolves into two curving lines that seem to draw themselves upward from it. This contrast is not decorative but structural: the emptiness between the lines is what makes the backrest feel light and the silhouette memorable. The piece is crafted entirely from solid wood, keeping the material honest and the construction legible.
